Franziska Goralski
“First Chapter: Spelling Smell”
Wissel 1252 2 oktober 2025“First Chapter: Spelling Smell“ is a visualized thought figure. Goralski uses such figures throughout their work as vehicles to give form to intangible processes like ideas or imagination. Each individual drawing within the figure contributes to a larger whole, offering insight, becoming an actor or a prop in the scenery, and passing on knowledge. The thought figure displayed at De Aanschouw reflects on Goralski’s current project, which explores scents and smells in queer spaces as a speculative journey into olfactory pasts.
Franzi Goralski is a transdisciplinary artist and cultural worker who studied in Dresden and Amsterdam, exploring social issues and spatial concepts through a conceptual, cross-media practice. Since 2016, Goralski has worked with Adam Erdmann as the duo die Blaue Distanz, exploring the physical, social, political, and temporal dimensions of space. Their work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally.
