Wissel 1228 18 april 2025Rabea Ridlhammer is an artist, cultural organizer, designer and educator. In her often collaborative and research-based work, she engages with trivialized and feminized practices, positions and visual languages including cuteness, gossip, kitsch, comedy, craft culture, miniatures and the diminutive.
For De Aanschouw she assembled various handmade and found objects surrounding the theme of Easter, a Christian holiday celebrating Jesus Christ returning from the dead. Easter is based on the pagan spring festival Eostre and by now has firmly established itself in contemporary secular culture. Some of the most common symbols associated with Easter appear in the display, many of them saccharine and symbolising life, fertility and (re)birth, though some of these motifs are also charged with a particular penchant for gore.
